Webmail on slave server - 404 not found...
« on: 2014-01-13, 01:51:45 »
Hello,
I'm trying to use webmail on my slave server and I'm getting a 404 error. It can now send and receive emails successfully but webmail still doesn't work. I just get a 404 not found error.
You can check by going here:
http://webmail.gdcpool.us

Any advice would be appreciated.

Try change dns server for slave. Let say, from bind to djbdns. And also 're-update' your 'switch program' and 'webserver config'.

Also, I've run the cleanup script after switching to djbdns. What else can I do?

Better, use slave IP for domain in slave as ns1 and master IP as ns2. Otherwise, use master IP for domain in master as ns1 and slave IP as ns2.

Master IP = ns1
Slave IP = ns2

That's how I currently have it.

Imagine you have master with IP 111.111.111.111 and slave with IP 222.222.222.222.

So, create 'dns template' (let say) as 'masterdns' and 'slavedns' where:

1. masterdns with 111.111.111.111 as ns1 and 222.222.222.222 as ns2
2. slavedns with 222.222.222.222 as ns1 and 111.111.111.111 as ns2

Like this?

Right now ns1 is master and ns2 is slave.

Yes.

Remember, every change in dns setting need propagation time and need waiting in an hour or more.

Use 'masterdns' for domain where hosting in master and 'slavedns' for domain where hosting in slave.

I don't think you understand. All domains will be the same.
Web + DNS on Master
DNS + Mail + DB on Slave
The problem was that webmail was giving a 404 error and webmail.mcdivine.com is pointed to the right server (slave)

Hmmm.

Are you sure, 'A record' for mail refer to slave IP?.

Using default DNS settings.
An 'A record' is set to mail.mcdivine.com and a CNAME is set from mail to webmail.
Using a domain resolver on webmail, I get the correct slave IP.

What you mean 'An 'A record' is set to mail.mcdivine.com'?. It's mean 'A record' refer to domain and not IP?.

Better inform here your dns setting for this domain.
