Master-Slave with migration
« on: 2015-12-28, 13:19:50 »
I have a server installed (on kloxo v6.5) and configured all for an IP. All clients and domains are set up on that server. The main server domain (with current IP) is registered in my internet provider database.
Now I want to create a new server (on kloxo v7) in another place with another IP and the plan is to transfer everything from old server to the new one, the old server (that is the current) should remain as a slave and the new one to become the master.
So what are the steps for such work?
If the new server is registered in my internet provider database do I must remove the old registration?
Is there any problems with domains after new server activation (came online)?

You must use the same version between master and slave.

For the version it's clear.
What about other questions about domain? Can I encounter problems with 2 different registration of the domain in dns servers on the same internet provider?

More explain. Better with examples.

I decided to make a new, fresh, installation.
Install new server, remove all records from ISP DNS servers and create new ones and restore all from backups.

Just some questions remain:
- will kloxo-mr 7 work under a router firewall, eg no external IP will be set up?
- will backups from v6.5 restore on v7?

- Your DNS IP must be use public IP. In your case, public IP is router's public IP
- Yes, no problem restore from v6.5.

So, even if the server is after the firewall/router the IP for kloxo should be external not local without setting smth on the router (dmz or else) ?

Still need setting in router for NAT.

Only NAT for opened ports and nothing else?
But if setting NAT, kloxo will hav a internal IP, isn't it?

There some understandings with settings of kloxo IP behind the firewall/router so I will start another post.
