Kloxo 7 memory usage
« on: 2017-08-19, 22:11:35 »
I just got a VPS with 2G of memory.
I thought it will be enough for kloxo but it seems not.

After the installation of kloxo with no website installed. The usage of memory is full!
Is that normal?

2G of memory with no traffic seems a bit much

I tried the option to use Apache Memory Optimize to low but with no effect at all. I did reboot afterwards.

Please see attached file for screenshot of processes

I check my VPS host panel and it went down 900MB to 1.1G used and it correspond to what
sh /script/sysinfo informs.

But still, 1,1 G used for a no traffic server seems a little high for me but is that normal for kloxo 7 default setting?

I used to use kloxo 6.5 and I think it was running with lower memory but that was years ago.

Please see screenshot

Real memory usage is 276 MB. You see 1.1 GB (1179 M) because include cached and buffers.

Thanks for the reply.
But what it caching and buffering? there is no visitors to my sites. I have no varnish installed. I am kind of worried I am going to run out of memory when my sites go live.
Can you please give me an approximate on how many visitors my 2G RAM VPS can handle live ?
I am using wordpress with woocommerce plugins.
Thanks

Don't worry about cached or buffers. It's handling by OS.

How many visitors for 2GB RAM depend on applications and their plugins/modules.

Better enable cache manager in applications side (like hypercache in wordpress) instead enable webcache like varnish.

Yeah, I use WP rocket. It's the most compatible and easiest to configure with woocommerce from what I have read. Varnish is more suited with higher RAM configuration.

I had a dedicated server once with 16G of RAM and ran Varnish with it. it was incredible to see it in action. Had a paid service that simulated concurrent users visiting the website up to 2000 or more (I don't remember now) to stress the server and see the website loading time and RAM usage.
The speed was superb and handle everything without a hitch but it used so much RAM.

But this time, I am just came back after years of retirement from website building and marketing. Not investing a lot for the moment so just going for the lowest budget VPS I can find for the moment.

Anyways thanks for your help.

If I make some money on my new venture, I will donate some to the Kloxo-mr project.
