Apache FastCGIExternalServer vs nginx fastcgi timeouts ?

I still need to use such lines:

FastCGIExternalServer "<?php echo $docroot; ?>/<?php echo $setdefaults; ?>.<?php echo $count; ?>fake" -socket /home/php-fpm/sock/apache.sock -idle-timeout 90
to allow more than 30 seconds scripts.

But I see something like this inside nginx config:

  fastcgi_connect_timeout 180s;
            fastcgi_send_timeout 180s;
            fastcgi_read_timeout 180s;
So do I still need to use them or not ?
