Default IP and no incoming emails
« on: 2014-01-26, 22:44:08 »
2 things:
  • In the DNS template assigned to the client, i've chosen the shared IP for web and mail server, and assigned 2 IPs for ns1 and ns2.mydomain.com. But when i check the email header on Gmail i see:
    Received: from mail.mydomain.com ([ IP of ns1 ]).
Why is the assigned IP of ns1 being used for email server?
  • I'm able to send emails, but nothing is received. /var/log/maillog shows no signs of incoming emails at all!
I did some tests from a remote computer to the Kloxo-MR server:
      telnet mail.mydomain.com 993/143/465/587 - success!
So it looks like server daemons are just fine.

Thanks again Mustafa and others in the community!

This should have been posted in technical issues.

Qmail-toaster uses the main IP for the server to send mail.  Has the nameservers been updated at your registrar been updated to point to the new ip's?

Does your websites resolve?

Oh, i mistakenly have thought all Kloxo-MR stuff was supposed to go into Kloxo-MR Development!
Strange. Yes, it was updated yesterday by support at Namecheap.com after the setup of the name servers was done by me within Kloxo-MR. And yes, my website resolves.

Had a quick check at http://mxtoolbox.com/ and i get correct MX and the main shared IP listed.

EDIT:  i found the cause, which is related to Spamdyke:

Jan 27 00:18:03 mail smtp: 1390778283.805709 spamdyke 4.3.1+TLS+CONFIGTEST+DEBUG+EXCESSIVE (C)2012 Sam Clippinger, samc (at) silence (dot) org
Jan 27 00:18:03 mail smtp: 1390778283.805722 http://www.spamdyke.org/
Jan 27 00:18:03 mail smtp: 1390778283.808006 Use -h for an option summary or see README.html for complete option details.
Jan 27 00:18:03 mail smtp: 1390778283.808104 ERROR: Unknown configuration file option in file /etc/spamdyke.conf on line 32: config-mysql-database

Disabling Spamdyke works - i am able to receive email- but i would much appreciate having a working Spamdyke as i see it's very useful with DNS RBL Servers  etc.

Mustafa: any idea how to fix it?

Development forum towards 6.5.1a or orther KloxoMR 'development'. ;)

Even if mail is being rejected it will be in /var/log/maillog.   I would wait 48 hours for propagation, then try to send mail to your domain from Gmail or other mail provider.   If you are getting nothing at all in logs, Gmail is not contacting your mail server, which is normally a DNS problem, or a nameserver problem.  It is hard to diagnose with just "no mail is coming" as it could be DNS, mail server settings, etc.

check for errors in /var/log/maillog

disable spamdyke in KloxoMR mail settings first, click update.

Ssh
Code: [Select]
rm -f /etc/spamdyke.conf

enable spamdyke in KloxoMR mail server settings, click update.
Click spamdyke settings tab

Enable options you want, click update.

Configuration file will be recreated by KloxoMR.

It works now with spamdyke enabled following your suggestions!
Thanks!  :D

Now i have only major one left: Kloxo still sends out email from the wrong IP and not the main and the shared one.
Any hints on how to correct this behavior is greatly appreciated!
