Title: How to Support Kloxo-MR without Great Financial Efforts
Post by: prgs1971 on 2013-08-08, 05:40:38
Hello to all users :)

My name is Paulo Silva and I am a Freelancer PHP Developer for Prestashop and a very small Hosting Provider.

Almost of the users of this forum are Hosting providers, Developers, Web Designers or just some Owner of a VPS that needs a free solution to their Hosting Control Panel.

All of us like to win money from our job, business  and efforts, and Mustafa Ramadhan is not different from us ;)

Did you ever stop to think a little how much time Mustafa Ramadhan spent in the Kloxo_MR project every day:
- developing new features
- fixing bugs
- testing Kloxo-MR releases
- helping users in the forum
- maintaining the forum

Remember that Mustafa Ramadhan also have costs with the VPS for testing, development and to store the releases.

DON'T YOU THINK THAT HE DESERVE FROM US A MONTHLY HELP OF JUST $1,00 ?

I think that Mustafa Ramadhan don't need to put the name of anybody in a contributors list because we not put is name in our sites ;)

Donations must be private, but must be done for all of us.

Do you will be more poor in the end of the month, with less $1 buck?

With $1 buck from each user Mustafa Ramadhan can speed up very much the Kloxo-MR developement and all of us will benefit very much from it :)

Mustafa Ramadhan - it is posssible to subscribe a monthly payment to you in the Payapl?

Paulo,

I agree that we ought to show our love to Mustafa for this free and efficient gift of Kloxo-MR. Kloxo-MR is a labor of love and I wholeheartedly support your effort to encourage others to contribute to the BEST EVER control panel.

Totally agree with the idea of donating!

Additionally I am ready to pay on a monthly basis for having product as Kloxo.
Sadly the software is not yet ready to be used as stable as a lot of work need to be done.

Already donated 2 times in a roll a reasonable amount of money and I believe in the near feature KloxoMR to be the leading Open Source Hosting platform....Stable one...

Thanks for your support.

About stable, it's not easy. It's because different version of packages (let say MySQL for example) sometimes need different 'handling'.

Another issue, VPS type (like Xen/KVM or OpenVZ) sometimes need different 'handling' too.

Different version of OS (especially Centos 5 with version less then 5.6) not work if Kloxo-MR install on it.

I Understand you Mustafa.
That`s why i think a whole new approach is needed in order Kloxo to be what is supposed to be.

For example:

1. Why do you need to handle/support more than 1 OS version? Why don you get the latest CentOS version and stick with it?
I am sorry but i don`t see reason for you to support more distributions.

If i was a developer like you and have a chance to revive such a product i would start from the core of the platform and than add each feature at the time of the development.

But the first and more important thing is to have stable core on which you can build and add different features and extras.

For example i don`t need more than 50% of all features.

What i need is to have a working, rock solid hosting platform with major functionality such as:
1. Domain management
2. DNS management
3. FTP management
4. and last but not least Instalatron as application from which we can install simply enough any application in the list.

90% of the people are looking for a simple and stable platform to work with rather than having all this extras which make the whole platform unstable.

Having in mind that you are supporting all of us on a different level and you are trying to release new version of kind of a mission impossible.

I really can`t imagine how you manage it but this is crazy.

That`s why I respect you and donated!

I believe that if some of the concepts change than KloxoMR can kick a shit out of the all open source platforms out there and why not also the paid versions!

Fingers crossed :)

In addition i would like to focus your attention on something really important here:

THE SUPPORT: Why the hell you are providing yourself a support to each one of the users?

The Donation itself is kind of a support fee. If there is no support fee/donation than the user can expect a support only from the community and that`s it.

I don`t want to insult anyone here .... I am just thinking loudly :)

All other approaches are just ... not fair...

Maybe apply Google adsense or other ads into the forum.
I believe the majority of us understand the effort of the forum.
