Best way to move servers?
« on: 2014-03-17, 02:58:50 »
For the life of me I'm unable to find good information on how to migrate servers.

Server A with one provider and I simply want to move the Kloxo-MR installation with all files/clients to Server B with a different IP and provider. What is the best way to accomplish this? Regardless of what I've tried, not everything restores normally.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Use 'backup' and 'restore' options in panel.

Somehow I don't think it's as easy as that. I've tried that 4 times now. It never restores clients, domains or files. In fact, the backup is only 5gigs vs 77gigs used on the server. That's some hella compression! My guess is the server A isn't properly creating the backup.

Better separate domains to more clients before backup with 'change owner' options and then backup per-client. Restore to new server and then 'change owner' back to original.

It looks like I have this working fine now. You need to restore one domain & client at a time in order for it to restore properly. Then go back and restore the subdomains.
