Varnish
« on: 2016-09-26, 20:44:58 »
I was doing some research and was on a website that said that Varnish doesn't support https. Is that true?

What would be a good alternative to varnish? The reason I am looking into caching and all is because it looks like I have to disable pagespeed mod.

Also this showed up too when sh /script/restart-all. Is it bad or just ignore it?

Code: [Select]
Stopping Varnish Cache:                                    [FAILED]
Starting Varnish Cache:                                    [  OK  ]

That's exactly what I'm using right now. I've read Hypercache and Autoptimize work great together and that's exactly what I did. I did how noticed that my pagespeed score dropped from 90 to 77 after disabling pagespeed mod. I don't know if this is a big concern but it really bothering me.

Is there anyway to get the benefits of pagespeed mod without it messing up my wordpress theme and in admin area?

So after testing some more I've learned that it's not just my install of wordpress or my themes. With pagespeed enabled it messed up all wordpress on my server. I even did a brand new install and used just the themes that came with it. And yep, even that was all broke with pagespeed enabled. I confident that it is pagespeed mod issues for Wordpress.

No issue I found for my all wordpress websites. Yes, I used hiawatha-proxy instead nginx-proxy.

I am not sure, maybe it's not related to pagespeed itself but related gzip.

In hiawatha-proxy, hiawatha automaticallly disable gzip in 'proxy' mode and enable in 'pure' mode. If using pagespeed, apache will be enable gzip in apache (aka deflate).

I tried to switch to hiawatha-proxy but that breaks other tracking apps like piwik. I don't know how to get hiawatha-proxy to work. Should I disable gzip? If so, how?

With enable pagespeed, I only found issue in nginx-proxy. No issue for hiawatha-proxy and lighttpd-proxy. I tested for wordpress.

I've tried to used hiawatha-proxy and lighttpd-proxy but I don't really understand it. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with my setting or htaccess. When used all of my websites go down. I don't know why. My websites are mostly wordpress and none of them work with hiawatha-proxy and lighttpd-proxy.

hiawatha-proxy, the websites hanged and never complete loading.
lighttpd-proxy, the websites go complete offline.

I really wish I could get hiawatha-proxy to work because I know you recommend it. But I just don't know how. Do you have any info on this?

As right now I have to give up on ngnix-proxy to use pagespeed. I ended up using just Apache and enabled pagespeed. My scores went up to 87 on desktop. I'm in the green.

Can you help me getting start with hiawatha-proxy? I really would like to get this working.

Something wrong with your settings and or website application.

It's not free to fix your issue.

I did some research and I think is it something to do with .htaccess and .hiawatha. You can't use htaccess with hiawatha-proxy? It is writtten differetly?
