I think more infos in google search for this topic.

If you want sub-domain based for wordpress multisite, you need add wildcards (*) alias in your domain.

So, basically it's possible and You can do it over wildcard dns if You wanted to use subdomain and if it's directory, then You can just enable it from wordpress admin area.

I am using wordpress multisite on kloxo-mr with directory based site structure. For subdomain based structure you will have to test yourself because there are still somethings which can cause your subdomain based structure to not work on kloxo-mr.
