Title: PLEASE go away from Qmail -> Postfix
Post by: fossxplorer on 2015-06-19, 09:39:25
@Mustafa, Kloxo-MR is a GREAT PRODUCT, but with only 1 MAJOR issue, that is the Qmail.
I know that 99% of Kloxo-MR users will have a better life if you replace Qmail with Postfix.
Can you PLEASE migrate over to Postix? I'm willing to test it extensively and give you support by donations.
PLEASE tell us that you are gonna work on this!  :)

Thanks.

I am pretty sure it will not happen.

No ! Qmail is just fine - stable and now works with IPv6, but Dovecot instead of Courier-IMAP would be fine.

@lupetalo why do you think that?

@ Spacedust
It's not that Qmail isn't stable or fine, but the ease of the configuration and being able to troubleshoot issues is much easier with Postifx than with Qmail. So the ease of maintenance is very important to me and for many others. Even though Kloxo-MR takes care of everything, there are situation where this is invaluable to avoid downtime of the server! Documentation is also another pros of Postfix vs Qmail.
Postfix is also much more actively developed :)

There must be a reason why one can't find Qmail packages with Linux distros.

+1 for postfix

It seems that postfix is very fast. Work with Dovecot very fine.

I suggest Kloxo-MR use postfix+dovecot as the "post office" and use RoundCube as the webmail.

Thank you.
