Disk cache with Apache

This module isn't built-in module. So, you need compile separatedly.

Are you sure? I think it's already there, just needs to be enabled. (Don't have time atm to verify, but will later next week).

I think this is a critical part to speed up shared hosting such as Kloxo-MR.
And imagine if we can place the cache path on a fast SSD, it would really make a difference!

Better use mod-pagespeed in apache (optimize files), apc and memcached in php (code cached) and cache plugins in application (like hypercache in wordpress).

Mod-pagespeed is not supported by all PHP apps such as ownCloud. I do normally use PHP OPCache with APCu (for object caching), which i've found out gives best performance for couple of PHP apps i use.

But i've read that mod_diskcache in Apache is better than using the Wordpress caching plugins. It's due to the way Apache's disk cache is implemented (using sendfile API).
I'll hope to get some time to do some testings and post it here.
