Title: Who owned the first ever car in India?
Post by: Gracy jane on 2024-04-19, 20:28:01
Sadly, the Hindustan 10 car could not stand the vicissitudes of time.  These were a status symbol from the 1960s to 1990s. The last Ambassador was made in 2014 after the company found a major decline in its sales. From selling almost 20,000 units in the 1980s, the annual sales plunged to a low of merely 2000 units, forcing the company to halt its production. There has been news that the Ambassador car may make a return to Indian roads soon, since French car maker Peugeot has acquired its rights. They are even planning to unveil the car in a new avatar, and its manufacturing will be done at Hindustan Motors’ Chennai unit. The new Ambassador will have a complete design overhaul and a new engine. Hindustan Motors and Peugeot are working on a new ‘Amby’. As per reports, the car’s mechanical and design work has reached an advanced stage and will be launched in 2024.
